As the beginning student advances they will eventually outgrow their student instrument and will need to upgrade to a “step-up” instrument. These step-up instruments compliment the growing ability of the student and help them achieve a higher level of musicality. The difference between a student and step-up instrument is not always obvious visually; however, the craftsmanship and quality of materials used in the construction of the instrument help the overall response and tone quality.
